His style of painting was influenced by Wang Meng, Chen Tong, and Wen Zhengming. Shi Xi also merged his own feelings and comprehensions into his works, which made his landscape paintings special. He was good at using “Tu Bi (a sparse and unusable brush) Ke Mo (one of application of calligraphy), shaping with lines, and presenting a peaceful scene of Shan Shuei by mingling, converting, and pausing the lines that are different in shade, intermittence, and thickness, which performing boundless conception and clever, old-fashioned, artsy painting style. Shi Xi is names as “Sih Hua Seng (four painting monks)” with Shih Tao, Ba Da Shan Ren, and Hong Ren.
